OUR HORSES

After careful research and many hours of consideration, we have chosen the draft horse breeds to pull our carriages and wagons. These magnificient horses are commonly referred to as the "Gentle Giants" of the horse breeds. They truly fit this description and are not only our partners in this business but treasured family members.

Our horses are beautiful, well trained, experienced in pulling all sorts of wagons and carriages, and are accustomed to heavy traffic and large crowds.  (They also ride wonderfully)

They came from Amish communities, and in these communities, the children care for the horses from the time they are big enough to handle the chore.  As a result, the horses love the children and are very careful around them.

At this time our "Horse Family" consists of :

THE BELGIANS

Sophie and Bingo, and Cash

Sophie and Bingo the most experienced of our teams and are awesome in any situation. Sophie is so beautiful and such a patient and loyal worker. Her eyelashes are the envy of most of the brides she carries! Sophie is also the matriarch of our group and all of the horses defer to her opinions and wishes.

Bingo is the oldest of the  Belgians.  He came to us from a logging operation in MIchigan and pulling the carriage with little Cinderella's in it is light duty compared to the giant trees he was used to hauling in the woods.

Cash is the youngest of the Belgians and she is also gentle and kind and very patient with the kids no matter how small. Cash is my granddaugter's favorite and she spends many an hour with Kaycee riding her.

THE PERCHERONS

Rambo and Kolby are the next in seniority. They are solid black Percherons with white blazed faces. They are huge and still growing! This team is striking whether they are pulling the carriages or a hayride wagon.

The youngsters of the group are Bruce and Bob. They are percheron/paint crosses and are just three and four years old. They came to us to help out through our busy fall/Christmas season and have been working non stop since. We are becoming just too attached to them and they will be joining our horse family permanently.

All of our horses are trained and treated with respect and kindness. They are exposed to all sorts of situations and to all of the sounds that might be encountered in their work. We also use a training CD used by many of the larger police training academies to acclimate horses to the sounds that may be encountered in a typical day in the city. However, in order to keep our horses trustworthy and quiet, we will not take any unneccessary chances nor put them in a position that we know will frighten or create a scary experience for them. Family members are the only persons that drive our teams as we believe that both horses and drivers need a steady relationship to work at the best possible level, and that confidence in the driver will help to produce a quiet and reliable ride for our clients.
